Amazon Conservation reports that its sister organisation Conservacion Amazonica-ACCA organised drone training in August 2025 for communities in the Madre de Dios region of Peru. Participants learned to operate, maintain and use drones to monitor their territories and protect their forests.

According to the organisation, the drones help detect threats such as illegal logging, mining and deforestation, and let community members patrol their forests safely while avoiding direct conflict with illegal actors. Participating organisations included the Native Federation of the Madre de Dios River and Tributaries (FENAMAD) and the Indigenous Council of the Lower Madre de Dios (COINBAMAD). The initiative was supported by Aktion Amazonas, the Erol Foundation and the D.N. Batten Foundation. The page reports training, not measured forest outcomes.
